BOPP Masterbatch

Biaxially oriented polypropylene films have unique mechanical and optical properties leading to their use in packaging and other industries.  Ingenia offers specially designed masterbatches used in BOPP films.

Overview

Biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films are made in a multistep process. The first step is to extrude PP through a flat die and form a relatively thick film. The film is then stretched biaxially, thinning the film and orienting the polymer chains in a favorable manner. This resulting product has enhanced properties and is a lightweight film with high clarity.

BOPP films have found use in several packaging applications such as food and beverage, personal care products and medical packaging. BOPP films are also commonly used as shrink sleeve labels. To provide additional performance benefits such as barrier properties and sealability, BOPP films can be metallized and laminated to other substrates.

Features

Ingenia is a BOPP masterbatch supplier that offers industry standard as well as customized high performance masterbatches.

Ingenia offers slip, antiblock, antistatic and antifog based masterbatches for BOPP films, as well as masterbatches based on combinations of these additives for specific processing and performance requirements. Alongside our additive solutions, we offer several white masterbatch options that have excellent dispersion and high opacity, while allowing for the retention of the mechanical properties of BOPP films. Ingenia also offers compounds that allow for a matte finish. These compounds increase the haze of the film and enhance its aesthetics by scattering incoming light. Ingenia’s matte compounds have excellent processability and low gel formation. If you are looking to reduce the cost of your BOPP film, you may consider a cavitation masterbatch. Cavitation masterbatches reduce film density by displacing polymer with a cost-effective filler and allowing for voids to be created as the film is stretched.
