Injection Molding
Overview
The first stage of injection molding requires plastic pellets to be dispensed through a feeder (where masterbatches can be combined with resin) and conveyed by an extruder for mixing and melting. As the plastic melts it is injected into a metal mold to create the desired shape. The plastic cools quickly and is released from the mold before the next shot is injected. This is a cyclical process which can produce hundreds of identical items in a relatively short period of time.
Ingenia is a premier supplier of black, white, color and additive polymer concentrates for injection molding. If changing between color or additive masterbatches, we offer efficient purge compounds to clean the extruder. If you are considering using post-consumer or post-industrial recyclate for your injection molded parts, use of our INCIRCLE® products will stabilize and improve the recyclate quality.
