Energy Storage

Ingenia supports the energy sector by providing rotational molding resins, which are used to create vessels for energy storage.

Overview

The energy sector presents a variety of solutions for energy storage that can effectively power motorized vehicles. With the growing demand for compressed natural gas and hydrogen, there is a pressing need for efficient storage vessels to accommodate these applications. Ingenia provides crosslinked polyethylene for the liners of Type IV composite overwrapped pressure vessels, ensuring durability and reliability in final products.

Products

Crosslinked PE, Superlink®, is rotationally molded to make the inner layer of CNG Type IV composite over wrapped pressure vessels (COPV). The liner acts as a barrier for the compressed gas energy source. The next stage of processing requires the liner to be wrapped tightly with a fiber reinforcement such as glass fiber or carbon fiber to provide additional strength to the structure. Often Type IV COPVs are used for storage of compressed natural gas or hydrogen.
