INBIO®
INBIO® product family offers biopolymer masterbatches for flexible packaging as well as versatile compostable compounds.
Overview
The use of biodegradable plastic films in various markets is growing rapidly. By replacing petroleum-based plastic films with biodegradable films, renewably sourced raw materials can be used vs. non-renewable petrochemical feedstocks. As well, compostable packaging helps to minimize packaging waste to landfill or persisting in the environment. Ingenia offers masterbatches to improve the performance and aesthetics of biopolymers in various applications. This supports the conversion of traditional plastic packaging to compostable options.
Features
Ingenia offers biopolymer based high quality, high performance antiblock and slip masterbatches that address processing and converting challenges of films sticking to one another on the finished roll or to converting equipment. Our dedicated technical support team can assist you with antiblock and slip solutions for your specific compostable application.
The diverse properties of biopolymers like PLA, PBAT, PHA, PCL, PBS and TPS offer both challenges and opportunities for improved processibility and performance. Novel combinations of materials in film structures can create high quality products, but mechanical performance and barrier properties may still need a boost! Ingenia offers a variety of masterbatch solutions that provide processing improvements, performance enhancements or cost savings for our customers. Synergistic combinations of various biopolymers and additives allows for the supply of higher performing compostable compounds for flexible packaging applications. These compounds offer excellent processability and industry leading performance.
Ingenia’s toughening agent biopolymer concentrate INBIO® ITZ-486 improves the tear and tensile properties of thin PLA films, allowing for the use of PLA in more diverse applications. The films detailed in the study below are mono-layer films with a thickness of 1.5 mil and a BUR of 2.5.

Ingenia’s matte effect masterbatch reduces gloss and increases haze for an excellent finish. Ingenia also offers premium white masterbatch solutions for films and molded products that offer superior opacity and processibility. Different carrier resins may be selected dependent on your product needs. When using INBIO® ITZ-534 in PLA, the glossy finish is maintained keeping optimal aesthetic appearance.
