Slip

Ingenia has effective slip masterbatch solutions to tackle challenges with friction during the handling and conversion of films.

Overview

Films can exhibit a tacky surface which makes it challenging for them to slide over themselves or packaging equipment. Slips are added to films to reduce the coefficient of friction (COF) for easier processing. Most slip agents function by migrating to the surface where they offer a lubricating effect. To determine the optimal solution, it is important to determine the immediacy of the slip effect. There are slow blooming slips, fast blooming slips and permanent slips that offer immediate and long-term performance.

Features

Ingenia offers general purpose slip, fast blooming slip and permanent slip options. The permanent slip for polyethylene film can achieve COF values of 0.25 for film-film surfaces and ~0.2 for film-metal surfaces without impacting clarity of the product. Slip masterbatches by Ingenia have other benefits such as:

  • High purity to minimize potential for yellowing of film
  • Lot to lot slip loading consistency to ensure film COF consistency
  • Optimum olfactory performance
